[Hepper (1976) p. 91:] "It attains a considerable height but as it constantly loses the older leaves during growth and the remaining ones are not present in any quantity it will be unusable for this reason; unless cultivation might make some change; but moisture and drought contribute nothing in this respect for I found it identical in moist and dry places.
